Collective Medical Research: Enriching the Kansas City Community
A Mission Rooted in Care and Compassion
Dr. H. Mikel Thomas, a board-certified Adult and Addiction Psychiatrist, has dedicated his life to helping others. Thirty years ago, Dr. Thomas set out on a mission to bring medical research opportunities to underserved communities. As the Chief Scientific Officer and Principal Investigator of Collective Medical Research (CMR), he continues this mission by educating and serving the Kansas City community alongside his dedicated team.
About Collective Medical Research
Collective Medical Research (CMR) is a clinical research facility based in Overland Park, Kansas. The staff at CMR boasts extensive experience in clinical research, with expertise ranging from 5 to 30 years. CMR’s primary focus is to serve the local community by conducting high-quality clinical trials while fostering awareness and understanding of the importance of medical research.
Education at the Core of CMR
Dr. Thomas emphasizes the importance of education with his mantra: “Education, re-education, and then MORE education!” While it’s essential to educate the staff, Dr. Thomas and his team also focus on educating the community. CMR’s website is the starting point for this mission, offering resources like frequently asked questions and informational videos for potential clinical trial participants. The site also includes inquiry forms for those interested in joining a clinical trial.
Personalized Service and High Retention Rates
One of the reasons behind CMR’s high retention rate in clinical trials is their dedication to personalized service and ongoing education for participants. As a small business deeply embedded in the Kansas City community, the staff at CMR goes beyond clinical trial education—they actively engage with and support the community they serve.
Community Wellness Initiatives
To further its mission of service, CMR plans to launch wellness screenings to help individuals without sufficient healthcare identify potential health issues. This initiative is a natural extension of their commitment to improving public health and addressing healthcare disparities.
CMR’s Future: Expanding Research Opportunities
Looking ahead, CMR is evolving into a collective of physicians from various therapeutic areas, working to conduct clinical trials that benefit the entire Kansas City community. Their long-term goal is to train and support the next generation of clinical research investigators, ensuring that clinical trials are accessible to more people and that healthcare disparities are reduced in Kansas City.
